University of Ottawa Deploys Haivision Makito Encoder and Furnace IPTV Platform to Deliver Reserve Course Material to Classrooms Across Campus

MONTREAL and CHICAGO — June 8, 2011 — Haivision Network Video, leading provider of the most advanced video networking, digital signage, and IP video distribution solutions, today announced that the University of Ottawa is using the MakitoTM H.264 encoder and FurnaceTM IP video system to leverage the school’s existing IP infrastructure to deliver audio/visual materials normally on reserve in the library to any one of 156 multimedia classrooms. In enabling cost- effective streaming of HD H.264 video, the Haivision solution provides exceptional video quality, high reliability, and the security required to maintain copyright protection of digital media.

The Furnace IP video system provides a complete infrastructure for delivering secure video to every desktop and display. When combined with Haivision’s Makito H.264 encoder, the Furnace provides encrypted video from end to end.
