JVC EXPANDS STUDIO LINE-UP WITH COMPACT MULTI-FORMAT DIGITAL SWITCHERS KM-H3000 AND KM-H2500
Posted on Monday, April 14, 2008

Las Vegas, NV (April 14, 2008) — JVC unveils a new multi-format digital switcher line-up that provides multi-camera switching for small production studios, flight packs and outside broadcast (OB) vans producing live events.

The new KM-H3000 is designed to handle live switching for up to 12 HD/SD-SDI sources, with frame synchronizers available on four inputs, while the KM-H2500 provides switching for up to 6 sources with frame synchronizers on two inputs. Both switchers can uniquely be used to generate reference for a small system as well as echoing three reference outputs.

“Both switchers combine easy operation with powerful features that simplify production and reduce overall costs. These switchers, when integrated with GY-HD250 ProHD studio packages and DT-V series broadcast HD monitors, provide users with an ideal HD/SD studio solution,” said Craig Yanagi, national marketing manager, Creation Products, JVC Professional Products Company. “The KM-H3000 and KM-H2500 fit perfectly with JVC’s philosophy of providing an efficient and affordable upgrade path to high definition production.”

The compact design of the KM-H3000 and KM-H2500 make them ideal for desktop operation or installation virtually anywhere. Their tough single-piece construction is designed to handle the physical challenges of mobile and flight-case use. The switchers fully support 480i, 576i, 720p and 1080i, which are menu selectable. The switcher has one preview and two program outputs, three SDI AUX outputs that support clean feed and one down converted output.

A simple menu system makes both models easy to set up and use. A professional two-axis joystick provides positioning and sizing of keys. The switchers also feature high-end push buttons with an overall panel glow that is user adjustable to any brightness and hue for easy reading in darkened environments and personal preference.

High quality Chroma Keying and sophisticated dual animation playout capability ensure that the KM-H3000 and KM-H2500 meet the most demanding applications. Both units feature high quality 2D transition and PIP effects and a Pattern Generator for matte wash, wipes and masks. Users can store up to 10 customized presets that can be stored to USB for future use.  The KM-H3000 has two downstream keyers.   Keying capabilities of the KM-H2500 are identical to the KM-H3000, except that the KM-H2500 has one downstream keyer.

The estimated retail price for the KM-H3000 is under $20,000 while the KM-H2500 will be priced under $17,000. Both models are scheduled to be available later this summer. For more information and high-resolution photos of the KM-H3000 and KM-H2500, please visit JVC’s Web site http://pro.jvc.com/
